I was off last week so today was my first dark commute. Not too cold or wet, bit of surface water but nothing too bad. I have some thick neoprene overshoes but I always have a problem with water getting in the top, any tips to stop this? Particularly while it's not too cold (it was around 10C this morning) as I'm still in SS top, bib shorts and sports socks.

There were some annoying nutters out on the road this morning though including one would be RLJ who ran into the back of me, saw him RLJ at the Elephant and Castle gyratory later, he just cut straight across the traffic and onto the pavement leading across the traffic island. Then joined my route after I'd gone all the way round. Still passed him though.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
1st 7am start for months yesterday, forgot how quiet the roads were at 6am and how dark and chilly it also is at this time of year.

Scarey this morning as i was back on days so heading out on the same roads in pitch black in a right pea souper with cars doing 50-60 mph .
To top it all i had taken the subway 1 as it is my nasty weather bike and got a bl***y pu*****re!

My trip to work takes a lot longer in the winter, I ride down unlit roads that do not get gritted, the 25 mph Rossi style cornering has to stop and the 8 mph wobbling starts

Cut the corners off a 'thick' shopping bag and use them as a waterproof layer between shoe and overshoe (only need enough to cover toe and top of shoe (hence use a 'corner') for each shoe.

Or buy some waterproof ones.
