Cold isn't normally an issue - first mile might be a bit parky but you do soon warm up.

Decent lights are vital, pay as much as you can afford for long lasting bright lights. (and have a spare set on the bike) Come Dec, you'll be using lights for 1 hr in and 1 hr home again! can be a lot of batteries.

Your extremities do get cold, even after the first mile...

Get rechargeable batteries!

If you are building a winter bike then go for a Schmidt dynohub for the front wheel and Busch and Mueller lights front and back. No faffing around with recharging batteries every night and guaranteed a nice bright light.

Get some Ayups and you won't have to recharge every night... the basic roadie kit comes with a 6hr battery.

Budget £100 you lot - don't get carried away - the Ayups are about twice that !!!

Thanks for that! I was looking some of this stuff up in Wiggle with my bank account open in the next tab, trying to figure out where the money will come from.

Hopefully with the cash saved I may be able to invest more later in the season.
