Read an article in this months cycle active about cycling in January in Mallorca. Looks like some lovely quiet scenic climbs and descents. It's my 40th in January and fancied giving this a go rather then spending my 40th sobbing in the local. Has any one experienced anything like this? Is it worth the expense and logistics to cycle in another (warmer) part of the world?

Honestly, that's quite interesting. Personally, I've never been in the other part of the world, especially in Mallorca, but I think it's definitely worth going there.

What the heck, I would give it a shot!

There's quite a few posts on here about cycling in Mallorca - and there's one or two specific websites relating to just that. I've been and cycled a few times - mostly early Oct or in Feb - I found that Jan was mostly pro teams practice and I didn't want to show them up!

There are some good bike hire shops on the island and it's best just to hire from as little as £10 a day for decent spec road bikes. The best part of the island for cycling is really the north east part of the island - up around Puerto Pollensa there's some good bike outlets by folks that are really knowledgeable and some excellent rides.
