I was referring to your "Each according to his needs..." quote. The same principle applies, if you can live an above average lifestyle on your net income why not donate extra payments to the Treasury so it can be spent on those who need it?You seem to be conflating things... taxation is not a donation. And taxation is not linked to need but to means.
Because the Treasury will give it to people who don't need it, in the form of the winter fuel allowance...I was referring to your "Each according to his needs..." quote. Whatever you do don't turn up at an orphanage saying you've "got wood". There are enough stories like that about retired police officers already!I've a children charity in mind for when the time comes.
Some clothes? A new epilator?I've just got my winter fuel allowance, now what can I spend it on
I'm hearing of people not that much older than myself getting old age pensions, free bus passes, heating allowances and other things. I feel that by the time i reach the current eligibility age they'll have moved the goal posts and i'll never see those things.
Well that's not bad. It's better than i'll be getting. Anyway, i've told my daughter(19) that she should prepare to work into her 80's for any pension from the state! It's not all it's cracked up to be. I can't use my bus pass until after 9:30 in the morning except weekends and bank holidays.
