As long as I breathe, I attack.
On the way home at 5.30 am after a night shift i had tights and windproof on,not sure how cold it was but my fingers were numb for the 1st half of my ride with thin full finger gloves .

Can I ask which knee-warmers? And are they any good?

I have enough issues with arm warmers (what is the point, why do your arms need to be warm, they don't do anything) but what on earth is a knee warmer? Your knees are working, they'll be warm.

When in doubt, remember that until recently Cristiano Ronaldo used to spend 90 mins running round in 3C temperatures in shorts. Are you not harder than him???

It's been 8 Celsius the last couple of mornings, plus sunny with no wind, far too warm for any winter clothing.

It's just that it gets down to -15/-20 around here, without taking into account windchill.

I find i need full-length leggings plus something over the knees as they are more exposed than the rest of the leg. Maybe due to the material stretching.

Now that I understand. Arm warmers are just there to keep the chill from the poor loves' arms. Once you talk serious cold temperatures I agree with taking appropriate measures and in -15 I'd also have longs on, plus two pairs of socks. I may even resort to a fleece under my windproof/waterproof.

In a Southern English winter though I find that kit consists of sealskinz socks, bib shorts, short sleeve top, waterproof windproof jacket and long fingered gloves. I find that as the jacket is windproof, the temperature quickly builds up inside it. If it gets to 0C, I'll wear longs over my bibshorts.

No extra clothes needed here in Norfolk this morning - maybe it's the leisurely 7:30 start!

First ride though with helmet-mounted mirror - the jury's out at the moment on its effectiveness. I was surprised how much it vibrated.

It certainly helps to see what's behind before risking a wobble and good head-turning look behind before turning right off the main road.

I took the helmet option as I'm too skinny to buy a mirror for each bike!
