I have something like this only bought in one of aldis cycling special buys, I find it does the job well..

I've just ordered a balaclava that, hopefully, keep more bits warm and dry than the skull cap I currently use.
Time will tell if I can ride and breathe through the material at the same time !

This is what I wear under my helmet to keep me (and my ears) warm in the winter and am very happy with it: https://www.trekbikes.com/gb/en_GB/...-thermal-cycling-cap/p/11734/?colorCode=black. Admittedly I didn't pay full whack for it as my LBS at the time were having a sale, but I still think it's good value for money.

Thanks for all the replies.

I like the look of the Bontrager, what with the peak for keeping winter sun out of the eyes and all. Will have a butcher's in Aldi first though, being a natural born cheapskate.

Cheers.

I don't wear a helmet, I've been getting on OK with a cotton cycling cap since the autumn, and if it's really chilly/wet a buff pulled up over the face. The buff does restrict breathing a little, but not so bad I can't cope. I could easily ride without it, I just like how the warmth from my breath warms the face. Luxurious warmth, only downside is 10 miles in it can be a bit soggy, but still warm at least.

I don't wear a helmet, I wear a cheap woolly Hat brought from Coventry market, had it for years, keeps my head and ears nicely warm.
