As a non-skier but regular watcher due to getting the most out of my Eurosport / TNT subscriptions I’m not sure if it is down to the improved camera technology and drone footage but I’m surprised by how rough and off-camber bits of the men’s DH course is. They also did a course preview that had camera angles that really showed how steep the gradients are. Drone footage has really enhanced the coverage in recent years and highlights just how fast they are going / how far they go on the jumps.

Drone footage has been a game changer for a few sports.
I've skied a few world cup downhill pistes, but as a normal skier, not trying to get down as fast as possible. Most pistes aren't particularly difficult for reasonable skiers, but racing them downhill when they've been iced up is a different matter altogether! The strength of these guys is unreal - 90 mph top speeds too!

Vonn took a big gamble to ski with an injury, and it totally backfired.
