Wireless computers

Hi folks,

Daughter bought me a Bontranger cycle computer (wired) for my birthday but upon opening it I think I am going to struggle to get it on my Trek hybrid without the (heavy duty) cables being a bit too conspicuous for my taste. Especially as it has a cadence sensor too which will mean doubling back surplus cable to make it fit properly.

Am thinking of returning it for a wireless version, which was only a few pounds more, or another model dispensing with the cadence option, having seen a few recent posts on here about the issues around measuring, or becoming obsessed with cadence!

Any thoughts guys? I am limited to this brand as she got I from the local Trek store so they don't stock other brands. Have also seen a few negative comments about wireless, so the alternative is to stick to just a wired version without he cadence.

Cheers, in anticipation.

Wireless is becoming better all the time and in general the more you pay the less they are prone to interference. With the cheap wireless computer I recently had to cycle on busier (often jammed) roads and found it was interfered with often and switched to a cheaper but wired computer. Beforehand with my normal riding it was reliable enough for my needs and like you I prefer the cleaner look, its also presents less to snag or the ned (chav) to fiddle with ;)
I could live without cadence, I've only got a meter on my best bike and ride more with the bikes without, preferring to ride how I feel rather than being dictated to by a rpm figure. Its you choice though, do you think its a piece of info you really need or are you going to train according to it, if so you should get it but as said its not important to me.
