Great , from what I saw of it.

There are a lot of cycle hire shops down by the bay. We cycled over the bridge to Sausalito and beyond , which is a standard tourist activity.

Didn't Critical Mass originate in SF ?

I can't see the appeal over a cold and miserable Oldham myself, but whatever floats your boat eh?

Don't do it mate. Weather's terrible (no proper winter to speak of); 1000s of cosmetically enhanced blondes on roller blades; they ride/drive on the wrong side of the road; if you get into the movies, they'll cast you as a villain; the adjacent Rockies are very overrated don't begin to compare with the Pennines; the Pacific's not much to write home about; there's all that cheap Californian wine; surfing is for people who are fashion blind and have no sense of self-preservation; cosmetic dentistry will cost you a fortune; etc.

And the job will be rubbish - why d'you think they're offering it to a foreigner.

And they can't spell properly.
