I work in the industry and I can tell you with certainty that there's no difference in the formulations of men's and women's antiperspirants and deodorants. Only the packaging and the perfumes are different.

Sad stories indeed. I've seen a TV ad recently that shows someone spraying a long burst of several seconds of a deodorant; I'd have thought that was a very bad thing to show and the ASA should get involved.

I'd hoped you'd be along, and suspected that you would confirm that they are the same! Nevertherless, my anecdata shows the lady-stuff to be better working on me than the mens .... maybe it's simply the perfume that better disguises my manly odours!

Why not just wash more often?
That's a fair question.
How about a typical day .... get-up at 4 am, shower apply deodourant, suit and boot, drive to the airport, catch the 0700 to Europe, drive for 2 hours, work 5 hours in a food factory drive 2 hours back to airport, quick nosh, fly, drive home arrive at 10pm.
Not so many opportunities for a good wash, though occasionally will have a quick freshen at the airport for the sake of my fellow passengers ....
Good deodourants are a godsend.

How about get up at 0530hr, cycle 9 miles to work, have a quick shower, work till 12ish wash using soap and a flannel, work till 1900hrs, cycle home, have a quick shower, eat tea. Chill with the family, get ready for bed about 2230hrs wash with a flannel and soap and brush teeth, and go to bed.
A small hand towel, a flannel and a small bar of soap in a waterproof toilet bag, add a few baby wipes for places that don't have warm water to wash in.
We are all but limited only by our imagination.

Possibly feminine deo perfumes might contain more of the "sticky" backnotes like musks and powdery notes, which might help them to survive better on the skin whereas men's perfumes are all flashy topnote and no substance. Also quite possibly thanks to your diet your body odour is better covered by feminine and floral smells. There is also huge variation in perfume quality between a multinational brand like Dove and a cheapo supermarket own brand, you may have tried a cheapo male product and a good female one.

I don't disagree with that, but even though I travel with cleaning stuff the opportunities to use it with any effectiveness is generally very limited and by the time you do, shirts etc pong already.
