Woo hoo 18mph commute

Well, I'm chuffed!! I managed an average 18mph on my commute into London this morning. In traffic.


Still chasing the holy grail of a 20mph commute though.....

I never seem to get a tailwind, it's not fair. I do head roughly NW on my commute so you'd expect cross winds most of the time but never get a tailwind. Head wind quite often though.....

It's all those flipping souverners in their cars!! They just slow me down! And as for the cabbies.......

My average is around 20mph through Croydon, but then as soon as I get to streatham or tooting my average just dives down

My usual average going to work is around 14 - 15 mph depending on the wind strength and direction.

A nice gentle pootle along empty country roads.

I know, I know but I tend to measure my fitness levels by how long it takes to get to work and av speed. For 10.7 miles I would like to get down to 30 mins but my best so far is just short of 35 mins.

My speed for the journey in is usually around 14-15, the journey home is 17+. That's partly because it's slightly uphill on the way in, partly because I take it easy riding in so I'm not too dead when I get here, but mostly because I don't really want to be here.
