I've fitted a couple of Fakro ones in the last year or so, they are fine.
I fitted one from The Loft Shop to my house probably 17 or 18 years ago, it gets used alot, and it is still good.

Well I ended up with a FAKRO unit. Really easy to fit, solid unit. Makes getting into the loft a breeze.

We had a lovely one in a 30s house, made oop north I think, Bratford or Leeds. It was an engineering masterpiece.

Similar in house I grew up in. Like one described above it was counter-sprung to take weight. Manufacturer was Slingsby. Big national name in the loft ladder business. When I first worked in London in 1978/9 they had a showroom in Kingsway (WC2). Now a coffee shop or bar like pretty much anything else in Kingsway that's not LSE or Kings. You can still see their name over the doorway:

Still in business today: https://www.slingsby.com/About-Us.htm

I just use a telescopic aluminium one .
It's not a loft ladder but it does.
Fits into a small bag , and is available for other jobs.

Only just seen this thread. Got a wooden one my dad installed 20 years ago when I was a kid. Heavy use in the past. Still perfect and no sign of not lasting another 20 years.

Had a look at opening the hatch up and it's a none starter so going to fit a pull down loft hatch and a seperate ladder.

Shame as I like the idea of the all in one units, might have one last measure up!.
