Doing some design research and found this, thought of you lot...

Ok not really wooden but still looks pretty nice... you would need a pipe and some tweed to ride it though

My SE Lager is in woodgrain. There are photos in the fixie section, it certainly stands out.

Ooh that's reminded of plans I once had to cover an old bike in woodgrain Fablon (sticky-backed plastic to you) ! I've got a frame coming tomorrow which I'm fixiefying, and I'm on the lookout for paint schemes. The woodgrain plan could be back on!

Oh talking of which, I met a couple of American tourists at Glasgow Queen Street Station the other weekend there, and one had a bamboo bike.
Beautiful looking thing it was too!
AND I have ridden a real wooden bike made by students from Strathclyde Uni before.

Gorgeous looking bike in the pictures by the way, thanks.

Didn't Sheldon Brown do that to a bike? A Hercules IIRC.

Its quite easy with a simple woodgraining kit from B&Q which comes with the base and top coat and a graining tool. Just finish with tin of spray on clear lacqueur but make sure it doesnt react with the grain coats. Simulated bamboo looks especially nice. I did one then got a book on barge art and had a go at some climbing ivy. Great fun and looked pretty unique too.

If you'd told me I'd see something as contrived as a woodgrain bike frame as anything but irredeemably naff I'd have laughed - but I have to say I think that's a work of real beauty.
