A friend of mine has been away caring for her ailing mum. I opened her mail for her and found a red letter from an organisation demanding that she settle an outstanding debt IMMEDIATELY or legal proceedings would be taken against her, she would receive lots more such letters, she would have her credit rating trashed, and so on and so forth.

I sent a cheque by first class post to settle the £0.06 bill ...
