Who is expecting not to go to work tomorrow due to weather conditions?
I expect most schools will be closed in my area so probably day off for me: fine by me, an unexpected day off, lovely.

Tomorrow is my day off. So I'm expecting to spend the morning in one of my sites supporting the teacher with an animation session (because we need the time to get the project finished before Christmas) and the afternoon in another doing artwork on the computer...

I don't think we've ever had a snow closure in my 12 years of working in this cluster of schools!

You are going to get some moaning parents if the school is closed. The local paper letters page is on fire when that happens, sad in my opinion that the teachers who have no say in the matter are the one's that get the most stick.

Teaching is in my humble a difficult job made harder by often difficult parents.

I would still go in as I have to.Luckily for me this week I'm annual leave.

Would leave an hour earlier than normal.Would probably call up the Brompton also.

Why do schools close so quickly these days? Is it because everyone now drives (including teachers) and snow scuppers them?
Exactly that in my wife' school. Many of the teachers travel some considerable distance, often 20, 30, 40 miles to get to work. School is closed to protect the teachers from the excess risk in this weather.

We've just heard that the school is closed tomorrow. As for me, the company car is a Mercedes. The final 3/4 of a mile on Friday night took nearly an hour with at least two near misses. It is staying on the drive. I can sort of work from home anyway, I have plenty to be getting on with.

Around here the call to close often comes from the transport companies, navigating uncleared snow filled single track roads is not much fun in huge coach.

My work has only ever closed once in the past 4 years and that was of dangerous high winds not snow.
