What do you think motivates people Milzy?
Managers who communicate with the shop floor directly instead of sending brown nosing minions. When there's problems management can group the shop floor together. This wins respect and there's more chance of the workforce aiming better and working harder in my experience. Management must never go around as if they were gods.

Money aside, would you be happier with this other company? Maybe scope for a better salary after some time or even room to do something as a sideline without getting any static from your employers?

Good questions. There's risk I won't be happier and then suffer more with less money. Not really a chance of other side lines. I think the problem is the industry in general. Think I'll stay put for now, then have another re-think next year.

Still changing my mind.

Would you drop a fair bit of wages to work on your door step??
How much do you save in travel costs?

How much time do you save everyday? If you split your salary comparison to an hourly rate including travel, how does new job compare?

I'd save 4.5 hours travel time and £20 petrol. If I worked over a few hours a week, I could match my wage now. New job should be more interesting.

Sounds like a good opportunity given how much you seem to dislike your current employer and colleagues

Assuming you can afford to live on the reduced wage

How much is 4.5 hours at your current rate worth? Your time is valuable, we can't ever get that back so spend it wisely. Or words to that effect, is what my Dad used to say
