Worst day for a pet owner

We've just come back from the vet without this fella, seen here in happier times.

16 or so years old, getting frail & weaker recently, but while he was still active and had a dignity to his life he's soldiered on. I got up this morning to find him collapsed in my bike store, he couldn't walk or control his functions. We said our goodbyes and took him in as an emergency appointment to save any further suffering or dragging out the inevitable, the vet agreed he was beyond comfort.

Worst day indeed.

You have made the best choice for him and made the right decision by him. That takes a lot of courage. I know that my two are like my kids, and letting them go when the time comes will probably be the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

Yes...i had to go through it on Thursday..
im of the opinion its so nice to be able to end their pain and suffering quickly

if only we had the same option for us..
