Worst weather for ages

Today was the worst weather for ages, totally drenched going to work, then got all my gear dry on the computer at work,(don't they generate a lot of heat!), then out the door at 5 and totally drenched again all the way home. Windy as hell as well !

I am tying to save the planet !

Thank the inventor of the tumble dryer !

It's surprising how on most wet days you don't really get that wet. Then when you get a day like you describe you realise just how hard it can rain!

Smug face on, was wet all day here too (not as bad as down your way). I was dry going in and dry coming home. Not sure how! Smug face off.

I didnt ride today, having had a few problems with my back lately and fighting the gale force winds and driving rain this morning didnt seem like much fun so bagged a lift.

Last week when I rode in the rain, although it lighter winds the rain ws heavy and constant. After a certain point you dont feel wet in this time of year if you ride in light sports fabrics.

Which bit ? The rain in August ?!

October is usually a nice dry month.

Yeah, we've been getting rain in August too, for some odd reason. But then we've got an excuse. ;)

I also don't mind the wet, but find the wind a bit annoying sometimes.

I also don't mind the wet.

That's 'cos it probably runs off you quicker, being upside down and all that.

I left in bright sunshine this morning, then a rainbow in the direction I was travelling, then very dark then sunshine with some rain, all combined with a wind that sometimes was gusty and sometimes non-existent.

Smug face yesterday as I walked out of the shop. Heavy drizzle so I donned my thin Montane, then as I was zipping it up it started really bouncing down so I took that off and put on the heavier waterproof while everyone else huddled under the porch entrance

(little stuffsacs are great, 2 waterproofs both roll up to take up very little space)

Hard work today over the hills of Redmires, a fair headwind but....on the drop back down into Sheffield a glorious tailwind..wheeeeeeee!!!

*my knot tying is testament to my never actually having actually been a boy scout, but being prepared pays off sometimes

I'm with you, rain I have no problem with but the wind is hard work sometimes, I had the gale force winds against me this morning so hopefully I will be pushed all the way home tonight

Me too. I carry a waterproof top and have full mudguards so rain doesn't bother me.

But I find strong winds a real mental and physical drain.
