I can;t see the point in cheating

to me the point is to see how well you can do
if you cheat then that doesn't give the answer

other people seem to think differently
which just confuses me!

When the kids were in primary we won the quiz night 3 years on the trot; but only because the other teams were rubbish.
Did terribly in a more recent quiz; I'm not up to date with modern crap popular "culture".

XOXO
One local pub got round the phone-cheating issue by conducting the quiz on everyone's phone via an app. Multiple choice answers on the screen with a time limit and 'fastest finger first'. No time to cheat and even if there was, the people who knew the answers would always answer quickest.

One pub quiz i used to frequent was on a Sunday evening. The quizmaster took all their questions from 15to1 and Eggheads the previous week, and once we'd sussed that out... we won quite regularly.

Another pub quiz put last week's winning team on a -10 deficit to stop the same team winning every week, but even with that, The Old Gits still won very frequently.

I've done a version of that fastest answer quiz and hated it.

Cheating at a pub quiz is pretty lame, and I don't see the point. Spoils it for everyone, and as others have said gets off-putting if it's the same team winning all the time.

I've just spotted this thread while posting on another, after it came up as a suggestion. I haven't looked at the replies, but I'd just like to say that cheating to win sometimes trivial things is pretty poor! I'd rather come last after doing my best, than come first after cheating to 'win' something.🧐

there was one in Birmingham I saw like that, we werent taking part had just stopped in for a drink, and all the questions popped up on the tv screens, and there was literally a question that gave the answer in the question, so you just had to read it,and it was deliberately done, it wasnt a mistake, and half the teams still got it wrong !!!

Quite dreadful
The best pub quiz I went to had the correct idea......fun. There was a round on media slebs. Anyone who got a correct answer had two points deducted. You marked your own efforts.

Sad watch-whisperers stayed away.
