Agree on the signwriter but maybe they have a policy of telling the customer that they will produce what is specified and the onus is on them to present it correctly in the first place.

Could the sign have been ordered through the internet? If so, if the spelling is incorrect and the order is automatically made then no signwriter would be needed.
There are several companies on the interweb that will make signs. So maybe not the signwriter, but whoever made the order.

And as if their spelling isn't bad enough, they won't serve people who can't produce a helmet or hi-vis.

Many years ago I was asked to order my rugby team a new kit, costing aroung £1500. So went to the store, picked the kit, placed the order and waited. I was sent a mock up to proof, checked it and sent it back. All ok. Kit arrived a few weeks later and I was delighted, until another club committee member pointed out that I had allowed the company to stitch a sponsors company name onto the shirt which was spelt incorrectly. Company was LE Blackburne and co and I had missed the e from the end. The kit had to be sent back to have a dirty great patch stuck over the original club badge which made it look like a complete botch job. Mistakes are easily made and not always easily rectified. Needless to say I havent been asked to order the kit again.
