I watched that too, in total disbelief.
Why would you build a house on an eroding cliff? It made no sense what so ever, and just seemed to be a complete folly.

Because they reckoned on getting 60 years out of it and knew that would be plenty long enough. What is the point of buying a pair of shoes if they are not going to last forever.

Given the opportunity I would have built there, even if it had only lasted 10 years.
