Gears. Electronic gears. Not brakes. Gears.

It does?

Sorry if I seem like a dunce, I have never seen that!

What type of bike has levers with shifters in it?

I predict it will cascade down the groupsets and in 2020 we will be using electronic shfting on our good bikes. IMO, the only reason I will not fit it to my bike is the price tag. But, given time and mass production, this 'little' problem will be resolved.

Wonder what the forums said in the days when someone suggested putting rubber tyres on bikes and filling them with air! There are some out there who are terrified of hydraulic brakes as they think the hoses can be snagged on trees and you'll lose all braking power!:biggrin:

Give it a couple of years and we'll all have them you'll see.

Does anyone remember the Mavic Zap system in 1994?

That was going to be the be-all and end-all of gearchanging on race bikes.

Like all other consumer electronics, it was 'value engineered' to cost as little as posible to produce, but retain the premium price tag, but failed miserably.

Do you really think Shimano are not going to do the same?
