Mad! I would have to run something like a 46 or 48T chainring to match my current 34T cassette/32T chainring MTB climbing gear.

EDIT: Just done the math, it would need a 48T chainring

This sort of thing really puts me off getting a new MTB and I know I'm missing out. They all look like trials bikes these days.
Shame, 'cos I really would like to give disc brakes and suspension a try.

MTB jumped the shark when Kona made the Cinder Cone into a jump bike. It used to be the gold standard XC bike.

I've had an 11 speed, 11-50 cassette on my mtb for the past year, had 11-46 before that.
28 tooth chainring.
Works great.

I grew up when a 28x28 granny gear was good going on an MTB. Makes these hyper-geared modern bikes seem a bit excessive.
