The whole interface for media operation is slick and smooth. It was a bit of a shock to find the PS4 can't even play mp3s or cds except as a possible later upgrade.
The PS4 on a brand new unfragmented hard drive is substantially more nimble and agile at going through menus of various sorts. The PS3 feels sluggish in comparison.
Judging off COD sales I think people are fine with being let down and being ripped off.I understand that obviously the pS4 is going to be much better, faster etc than the PS3, but it depends on what people can afford to buy. At the end of the day, how much money do these companies think people can pay. And the people who buy these consoles are the same ones who have the PS1 PS2 and PS3 already. There has to come a time when enought is enough. People spend an awful lot of money on these consoles and games, and it is not funy when you cannot play the game you have on the other consoles. People rightly feel like they are being ripped off.

Don't get me started. I won't be able to stop.I havn't played it myself but Mr dragon and grandchidren do. I understand there has been a lot of rehashing of sequences, and re using scenes from other games. So not entireley new is it. Just rehashing. Thats a lot of money for something like that.

You will find games will despair quicker than Xbox Live does on the console. Give it a year, I would expect most companies would have left the 360 behind and simply not produce games for it anymore. I think the swap over will be quicker this time. It took ages for the first xbox to the 360 migration. Live was going forever.Just bought my son a 250gb xbox 360 for Christmas. Cheaper than I thought it was going to be

Playstation is my weak spot but for the 360 I myself can guarantee that games will stop by or before this time next year as developers will switch mixed in with Microsoft forcing them to move over quicker to prompt people to make the migration. The exact same thing happened for the first gen to the second. You are better off getting the next gen or save up for one as the current one literally has a gun to its head with a time attached. Although its not a YOU MUST DO THIS NOW sort of thing. There is plenty of time but some developers move faster than others. EA and Ubisoft will be quick on the gun. They always have been.
Dam. That is so annoying. It looks like I will have to buya PS4 whether or not I want one in that case. Ewpeically if I want new games. God dam it.
It is of course a matter for individuals. I am not saying others should become early adopters. I don't think the PS3 was particularly value for money if one only used it for non-gaming. There are plenty of people even on here still buying 8th gen Wii/360/PS3 even maybe for their children this Christmas.
I don't think much changes though. When I was a child gaming was very expensive if you adjust for inflation, it is just people have this idea today with the big games studios like EA and insane development time that gaming is super expensive and more so than in the past. It is of course true that you can go mad, but that was always the case. Similarly with the PEGI video rating system I think a lot of people simply believe what they want to and that because PEGI noticeably dishes out much harsher age ratings for less violent games than the BBFC that games are getting a lot more violent.
Lack of backward compatibility is a major own goal from a customer's point of view.
I remember when XBOX 360 and PS3 launched years ago. People were very reluctant to give up their very cherished PS2s. There were a lot of comments about how expensive the new consoles were and that they didn't see the point as the games didn't look any better on their 28 inch CRTs. The 7th generation consoles actually lasted a long time than some previous generation consoles.
