I had a go at the Kinect Adventures that comes with the sensor last night, and it seems good. Didn't notice any real lag to speak of, and the raft down the rapids was fun. Put away until next month now, but at least it's all set up for when it does come out again. The zone for two players was slightly further from the sensor, so I may move the sofa (elsewhere in room) for a bit more space.

The lag is just relative between the games. For some reason the menus, navigating are quite crisp and snappy on some games and (mostly on the menus) quite lethargic and confused in others. In game is less pronounced.

Just bought a 360 250GB with Kinect last night, and games, and extra controller......price of a good bike.

Early 'family' Christmas Pressie, and we've been 'allowed' to plug it in on Friday after the knds have done their homework. I might connect it up tonight to 'set up the networking' and move some 'connectors' about...........if you know what I mean......

The wife bagged the 'Dance' programme. I got Halo Reach and NFS Hot Pursuit ! Kinect Adventures/Sports and Animals for the kids (have to share Hot Pursuit with my son).

I set it up last night, absolutely no problems, registered on xbox live, wifi connected to my PC as a media device etc. Piece of cake (and I know a bit about computers but anyone could have done it).

One issue................... the 'big light' is slap bang in the middle of the room / play area.............. argh. My wife was going bonkers as I was setting up the kinect stood directly under it (where the kinect told me to stand).

For good playability, we can stand just in front of it, for excellent, we can stand behind it......just must remember where it is if I need to jump - think it's going to be a tricky one if we use it at a party......few beers, forget..................smash................ oh and to top it off, the light fitting was a wedding present 15 years ago.......oops.

Anyway, proper play on it tonight once the kids have done their homework (more bribery). Wife is out at a party tomorrow night, so that will give me time to play Halo Reach.

I bought an bargain pack of Halo3/Halo Wars/Forza motor... pays to be behind the times... Probably won't get time to do much but hey ho. Anyway I think, our plan is now to unveil the Xbox/kinect - Dance central & Lego Harry Potter (non kinect) when the minis break-up from school-ish, but perhaps keep the Sports for Xmas day.

The kids are on Kinect Adventures at the moment, and they are both working up a sweat......... both now rather hot, drinking gallons of juice......... this is what's good about it............ both getting knackered...........

The only issue is you need lots of space, we are OK as our house is open plan (PS it's a small house though) and the TV is at 45 degrees into the room, so we have the whole middle floor area - settee's are out at the sides.

You need up to 10 feet back from the telly and about 8 feet either side........

The other thing, didn't notice at first, but the Kinect 'doobrie' is on a motor - so moves up and down and left and right...... The up/down is only noticed when you look at it and it's suddenly pointing down..... left right can de slightly seen if you are sat still and you see the reflections off lights changing.......... argh big brother.......

Do you mean approx. 4ft width for each player in dual mode? We should be able to muster about 8-10ft width total, by pushing an armchair out the way (fortunately on castors)...

One of my boys has Downs Syndrome and severe learning difficulties. He will be 22 on Wednesday. My wife has mentioned this "thing that makes the X-box like a Wii" a couple of times as a possible Christmas present for him. Obviously I do the set up etc but I'm wondering about the games. Tom loves to play Fifa and other football games. He has a large collection of other, mainly child oriented games.

Can anyone offer advice on suitablility or just a general view on how someone who has to work out X-box games by trial and error might get on? BTW he doesn't spend his life doing this!

I think your son would really enjoy it - the Kinect Sports is great fun, and you can play a football match in it. Only tricky bits could be the 'swipe' to change menu's as it took my daughter a little while to work that out, but she's got it sorted now. Why not pop down/phone up one of the local 'game' stores and see if they have one set up to try ?

As for space - 8ft wide for two players
