Hello, orry about creating another 'vs' thread but im just abit stuck.

Im looking to buy a bike, for a female, about 5'6'', 9st ish.

Its going to be used for basic travelling around town, so basic roads, streets, etc. Maybe about 20 odd miles a week.

The two that i've narrowed it down two (within my <£200 price range) are:

Apollo XC 26s

or

Raleigh Ignition 08

Any recommendations. Im more torn towards the raleigh, due to the history of the company and the brand reputation. Although that might count for nothing now!

Thanks for any help!

Tbh, full suspension, or any suspension at all for that price is unlikely to be any good at all. I would suggest something like this:

Basically, no, it isn't. There are front suspension forks alone that cost £200 (and very much upwards thereof!), so a full sus bike probably isn't going to be up to much.

I was just wondering what you are going to be using the bike for? If it's just for cycling on roads I would strongly recommend that you get a bike with skinny tyres so that it is quicker. If you want to be going a bit off road then the bike suggested above would be a very good bet, but I do agree to avoid suspension at this price point.

More importantly than whether they have suspension or not, both are well toward the low end of the quality spectrum. You'll spend a lot of time either fiddling with poor brakes and gears, or putting up with a poorly adjusted bike.

Do yourself a big favour and save up a bit longer. There are some really much better bikes available for £250 - £300.
