XT Deore shifters

I bought some of these today , good stuff , however all my other bikes have shifters fitted as front Dr shifter on the left , rear on the right , but these seem to be other way round , is that usual ? Just seems a bit odd ,

Are you sure you haven't got them upside down? Always R/H Rr IME. What are they, 9/10/11spd?

I can confirm the Deore shifters I recently took off one bike are FD right.

Can I just check that we are not confusing the brakes with the gears? European style rear brake on right hand lever is not unusual but I have never ever heard of front derailleur being shifted by the right hand shifter!

No wonder I've had problems with my gloves and wellies all these years !!!!

Ive sorted it ,
As you look at them , with the window for the indicator and the logo etc it did appear that rear. Shifter was meant to go on the left , as mentioned the US does sometimes do things opposite to European , so I was asking a question , but I played around for a bit and got it sorted ,
Looking at the pics it was reasonable for me to consider the back was the front etc
