Greetings, Friends!

I've been on CycleChat for quite a while, though I haven't posted much, lately. I'll be coming to Harrow next week (sans bike) and was kinda wondering if there would be any way I could meet up with anyone on CycleChat who could hook me up with a loaner (or hired) bike and maybe show me around the city a little! Don't need a fast, or even a good bike. I'm a short, fat, OLD guy, who commutes daily on a hybrid.

Or, if I could take the tube and meet someone somewhere? OR???

I'd hate to cross the pond for the first time in my life, and not ride a bike somewhere.

Thanks!
Joe

You can hire bikes in central London - check out www.tfl.gov.uk - these are for short term hire.

There are plenty of bike hire shops around that area but the suggestion of the Boris Bikes is a good one, they are a great way to get around London.

redjedi,

I SHOULD be there on Sunday, 10 July! I'm going to make every attempt to make it to that Sunday London ride! Those Boris Bikes look suitable for a casual cruise! I don't mind using one to get around. That looks like a really good system! I wish we had something like that over here! I haven't ridden a 3-speed for a long time, but I presume they are very similar to the old Sturmey/Archers?

As I write, Joe is possibly tucking into an early crumpet and a cup of tea from a bone china cup - with pinkie extended etc...

The 'Bromley Sunday London Massive' Ltd. will be accompanying Joe on a circle of the City as only they know how.
It will sort of be a bit Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Marble Arch, St Pauls, LMNH, The Olympic building site, Greenway, Ferry, Greenwich Park, River Thames, Tower Bridge etc... (The Shard )
Who knows, we may even do a bit of sight seeing

Edited because I can't spell whistle, which means the pc can't draw it!

What a lovely thing to do.

I hope you all have a great time and let's see some pictures afterwards.

And it's his Birthday today! Happy Birthday and good health Joe - you'll be needing some of these... wonder where this could be?

Other famous names from St Louis include Sonny Liston and Leon Spinks, Charles Lindbergh and Maximilian Factorowicz. As well as this young lady... prim proper and full of fun.

That sounds like a lovely Sunday London loop and it's on my last free day before starting jury service so, if it's open to tag-alongers, is there any chance of me linking up with the Bromley Massive (A21, around New Cross?) and joining up for the ride? Or, if it's easier, I could get to Southbank for 10am.

Ian will be along soon with Bromley Massive Passport and Membership application forms... (Warning: contains Northerners)
Meanwhile, here's the link (from topcat1) to the proposed ride in London. Not seen the Olympic site before? Try it on the 10th!
