How do you keep the birds off???
Our neighbour ties CDs on the branches. I'm trying to convince my wife that we should do the same.... with her 'Simply Red' & 'George Michael' CDs.
We've only 1 tree and then pick only from the lower branches. The birds get everything higher up. I'm not saying it's a formal arrangement but it seems to work. The wife then spends the next couple of days bottling. I'm not a fan of jam (too sugary) so we've got a fair amount of jam from last year still. I prefer to stick a bowl of fresh cherries in the fridge and eat them over them over the next week or so, either as snacks or in my breakfast. When they're gone, they're gone... until next year.
Personally, I can't be doing with this bottling lark. Pears excepted, and I pickle those rather than just bottle them as such. Gorgeous with blue cheese and a glass of red. A real winter's treat.
