Whilst cycling last night, there was a big crack in the road, which caused me to come off my bike, and my bike lights shot right off (they had good brackets too despite being cheap, have stayed on where Cateye and others have failed), and are now lost (went somewhere down an embankment). I wasn't going fast, but still came off the bike.
Hit my head, cut my eyelid (got a slit in it now), nose and knee, but could have been worse if I hadn't been wearing the helmet! My head is not cut, but been feeling a bit disorientated and confused (even bought one of my cousin's Christmas present twice despite just buying the first one 10 minutes before the second!), so am not going to cycle for a few days or so.
Whilst it was just a cheapo helmet, I'm suprised it stayed almost intact! But I need to get another one now anyway as they say you should replace them after an accident.
I'm going to the doctors anyway over an infected gerbil bite in my finger that has failed to heal despite antiseptic cream, so I will mention the injuries to him. I did try cycling earlier as the disorientation had gone, but it came back on the way home (and has been in spates), so walked much of the way and left my bike at my sisters. How long should I leave before I get back on the bike?
With the disorientation and confusion, I wonder how much worse it would have been had I not been wearing my helemet? Just glad I was!
