ive been shown photos of other work she has done and its all very nice, and we are clear on the colors and shades etc

one of the problems you'll find when having any tattoo with an eagle, and any hint of America is that most people on first glance will associate it with Harley Davidson....

I take the point ..but what do 99% of tattoos out there mean? The answer I suspect is that they mean something to the owner and that is the important point, not necessarily what other peeps think it means.

Not really...just Russia...but if I ever did go to Iran Iraq etc just looking and sounding as i do and holding a uk passport would be enough anyway.

I don't have a tattoo but, nevertheless, feel inclined to comment. I think it's great.

You could try opening your picture in 'Paint', enlarging it, and airbrushing in the colours. It'd give a rough idea.

No problem with tattoos, especially one that will mean so much to you, but I'm in the design is over complicated camp I'm afraid.

Have you any links to the artists other work, completed work. Based on the sketch/draft, I would say I don't think it looks particularly well drawn, looks like the sort of sketches laying all over my desk on post it notes from when I have become bored or frustrated and scribbled pictures of elephants, bears, a watering can, even a monkey with rabbit ears etc for a break.

IMO, some alright stuff, some mediocre. Nothing particularly great. I have heard of that studio though, it is well known, but not so much for the tattooing.
