I needed a recipe for Yorkshire pudding last night, so grabbed the first one the Internet showed me. It was all in grammes, which was handy, as I was cooking round at my Dad's and couldn't get his fancy digital scales to change to ounces. Skeptical at first about using oil, rather than beef dripping, I was pleasantly surprised at how well they rose (stuck, like @jayonabike said, to the top of the oven. In fact I think it was the same recipe). And to think that my sister was going to use frozen ones, but then she does live in Australia these days, which might explain things.

MIL used to add stuffing (or at least I think that's what she used) to make savoury ones that we had BEFORE the main meal

I made a double batch yesterday. The first lot for with dinner, the second lot sweetened and served with nutella and ice cream (at the request of my boy).
