We should force Lancastrians to drink it cold with curdled milk until they say that they are really, really sorry.

Neither. What you need - especially after a 50 miler round our God's Own County - is a Fat Rascal. Those sold by Betty's are particularly fine, but you have to eat them at home because Betty's is always rammed with old ladies getting their sugar fix. IIRC Betty's own Taylors, who make Yorkshire Tea.

Occasionally, when I'm working on Stonegate on a Wednesday, the Bettys van is delivering to little Bettys, and he leaves the doors open...

Of course, I'm a good girl, so I never think about trying to help myself to a Fat Rascal or two. But oh! The temptation.

A rather good accompaniment to any tea, I've just found out, is a digestive biscuit spread with my home made crab apple jelly.

We were thinking, a layer of Philadelphia cheese on the biscuit first, and you'd have teeny tiny cheesecakes.

The crab apple jelly is the most gorgeous pink colour. The apples came from a tree in the Minster grounds - God's Own Apples.
