Whilst I am sure that the readers of the 'Torygraph', the 'Daily Fail' and the 'Cotswold Correspondent' don't speak for everyone they must represent something. Now normally, I read these sort of comments and get all indignant and feel I should respond by quoting the law and a few facts. However, once I start to realise how long it will take to register and then compose a suitable response, which will not make a jot of difference to their ignorant opinion I go off the idea.

So rather than get angry with these people join me in celebrating the ludicrousness of their comments. I give you Dan Barkley a Daily Telegraph Reader in response to this

I never cycle at night and the inventor would have to show what proportion of injuries happen at night versus day. I would think it is very low because we know it's too dangerous to cycle at night and so this may not be the best idea to develop. Cyclists need more protection in the daytime. I feel 100% safer when there's a dedicated lane for cycles on the roads and as I try to keep in to the kerb as much as possible I think a bike lane only 10-inches wide could be enough to psychologically make drivers give cyclists more space but this would have to be researched

Translated that means............'I've never ridden a bike on a road in my life but that won't stop me talking bollocks.''

The light will flash... "Like any good bike light"
The light will "Stop vehicles turning into you"

Has the inventor actually got any real idea about cycling?

I applaud her for actually doing something rather than sitting on her behind talking a good talk but not actually doing anything about it. (not quite sure why at the end of each sentence she has to accentuate the last word , seems to be the fashion these days to be Austrailian)

As for the comment by the reader, everyone is entitled to their opinion, god only knows there is enough brilliant/ mad /useless/informative/hopeless comments made on here every day

I sort of like the idea, but it's only going to give you a "presence" on the road before you're visible if you're coming along the side of a bigger vehicle, and how often do we do that??
I can just see motorists looking at the green image going past thinking "WTF?!" and then driving straight out at the junction or RAB and straight into the cyclist!

The problem is (as has been proven so many times) is that motorists simply don't look, or do look an then still act inappropriately

The device fails at that point!
