Muppets Christmas Carol. Rat-on-a-Stick lolly anyone?

Bourne Identity - climbing around the outside of a building in sub-zero weather.

I was going for Ice Cold in Alex too - obviously not a cold weather film, but the bit at the end where they line up four iced beers on the bar and watch the condensation on the outside before drinking them is legendary. Best portrayal of a cold drink in cinema history, IMO.

Evidently it took numerous attempts to get the end right for that film, I've read somewhere 13 takes, which accounts for John Mills looking slightly the worse for wear as they used real lager. They don't make films like that one no more sadly.

Three Colours White - the scene in the Polish countryside in winter is chillingly bleak. Probably the best of the Three Colours Trilogy, which is still stunning fifteen years later. If you like some thoughtful cinema every now and then, they do come round to arthouses regularly. Available on DVD, of course, but some of the cinematography is disappointing in small format.

The only film I have seen which gives real any idea of big winter climbing is Touching the Void. Superb. I went to see a slide show of his, after the expedition but before the book, and he had come all the way up from London without his slides. No-one was surprised.

"Touching The Void" - watch it curled up on the sofa with a steaming mug of scalding hot cocoa.

I had 'relations' with the lady that did all the make up and effects for that film while she was on a diving holiday in Egypt.

film's quite good too.
