Just as an aside, my mother has never possessed any form of wheeled transport and never left Ireland until she came to visit me at Christmas.

Apart from France (where I am) my last trip was to Kenya from where I returned a week ago. My next will be to move down the road on Monday to cycle in the Alps.

I've worked on ships all my career so have been to a good number of countries. There is a difference between 'been to' and 'visited' though. e.g. I've been to Miami but as it was the airport and changing planes to go to Panama I wouldn't really count it. Been through the Panama Canal a few times too, but never actually stayed there.

Having had a ponder on this, I've decided the only countries that count are ones I've been drunk in. Got to keep up the 'Jolly Jack Tar' reputation.


Only problem with this is I was too drunk to remember where I was at the time.....

Could have been Orpington instead of Copenhagen: that would have been a trip and a half, and a real downer!
