Had a cracking ride this morning to Tatton Park and back in the sunshine.....remember that ? Not big miles but thats not the point when the scenery was good,strange things in the woods to occupy you and the odd friendly fellow two wheeler out and about,all good stuff.Here's some snaps of the ride.

I met up with a couple of friends (Gav and Ade) for a relaxed ride this afternoon around the Upton Magna area. It's a nice area with a bit of climbing round the eastern side of Haughmond Hill.

During the fast descent from the highest point of the ride I heard a clang-clatter-clatter from behind me and realising something wasn't right I stopped and looked back. About 50 yards behind me, Ade was looking at his bottom bracket as though he couldn't believe his eyes and a further 50 yards behind him Gav was waving the left hand crank and pedal that had just fallen off Ade's bike while doing about 28 mph.

Suffice it to say that the ride was cut short so we could get the crank properly bolted back on.

On the way back, during one of the stops to temporarily reattach the crank we heard a hooting followed shortly after by "Shoo-shoo, get out of the way you silly creatures". Having a look this was coming from a rather posh lady who had discovered a flock of chickens blocking her car's path. We have encountered these chickens before and they give way to no-one.

Had my first ever non-solo ride this morning with a serious cyclist pal up from London. I went a little bit faster than normal and he went a little bit slower, so we met in the middle. 46 miles, with a coffee stop. Only bad side was failing (again) to get over the first Ryal climb.

I enjoyed it much more than my normal solo outings, so it's inspired me to try a club ride.

If anyone is wondering what the green stuff is in my rucksack,its a plant called " Jack by the hedge" which has a garlic type aroma,though i would have a go at wild foraging but not tried it yet !

Went up Holme Moss to compensate for it being cancelled on Sunday's Brian Robinson event. This time I made it up without any issues, even having a conversation with the all-in-black rider on a Spesh I caught and passed on the way up (if you're on here - apologies for then diving off at speed down the hill - I was happy I'd done it ).

Back over via Royd Moor and Windmill cafe; 60 miles in a new record of 3hrs 45mins.

I know that's not quick to you flatlanders; have a go on the hills up around me

Broke the Metric Century today for the first time. 105 km (just under 66 miles). I'm over the moon and have left word at the virtual bar that everyone is to get what they want. I've started already here with a glass of fine Cognac.

Went roughly as follows: Belfast out to Whitehead. Headed back towards the city. At around 27 miles stopped at Jordanstown for a quick wee before continuing. At 32 miles I felt brilliant. Almost as if I'd only started. Back in the city and a little loop then I headed to Holywood. 40 miles in and Whap!! (Where did that come from?) No energy. I had to stop for 5 mins, get off the bike and eat a bar of chocolate I had with me. I had been eating on the go but obviously not enough. It's amazing what a bit of choccy, a few minutes off the saddle and a stretch can do. I was raring to go. Onward to Holywood, through the town heading back in the Belfast direction. Over the flyover and joining the Old Airport Road I headed back to the city and a well deserved (imho) cafe stop at around 56 miles where I indulged with a toffee & chocolate topped traybake and that panacea for all mankinds ills: a mug of tea. Fuelled up, I did a little 3-4 mile circuit around the harbour area before heading back home. 65.79 miles is what the ships onboard computer said. :-)

Only 22 miles around Nantwich today, averaged 15mph... The main aim was to help a friend push their distance. It was a good ride, even with the rain showers.

Not bad riding round there,i go to Reaseheath college on the bike.

Nice sunny early morning ride out to Selby via Cawood. Cold but the sun was bright all the way round.
43.5 miles in all. Fixed.

There are some cracking good rides in Northern Ireland. Train to Newry and coast back to Belfast through Newcastle. The Antrim Coast.... I have done a lot of rides in Northern Ireland.

Just commuting mileage of circa 17 miles (yes..working on Sunday )...one barn owl flitting alongside a dyke this morning, seems to be thier favourite hunting method, i often see that , and one possible Buzzard, only saw him close up for maybe two seconds about 10 feet away, but long enough to take in the feather patterns on his back. I say possible, he was small, but larger and heftier than a Sparrowhawk. Wished i got a longer look at him.

Thoroughly enjoying the Ribble...very comfortable.

Bad weather has played havoc with preparation for the Suffolk Sunrise 100 so out today with Gordonb on a last ditch training ride. Out to Easton, Orford and Snape and then back via Framlingham. 57 miles of utter sh**e - perishingly cold, with dense moderate drizzle/rain that after a while numbed the feet and hands.

Many of the minor roads were covered with sand and grit after last week's flooding, which should make for an interesting event next weekend.
