I have had my jacket on every ride so far, the missus wore her tights and jacket today but she was overheating, I was just nice in jacket and shorts.............no overshoes today

For once we only had a stiff breeze, not like the gales we had last Sunday.........that ride was torture Smokey, really didn't enjoy the swirling wind

I got away without a jacket last time out, but I had one on today in case I caught in the rain, (didn't as it happens), but I was glad of it anyway as it was feckin' cold in the wind and it soon chilled you when you're speed dropped as well. I was wishing I'd put my winter bib tights on after about 5 miles, but I got over that soon after

I don't enjoy the rain TBH, but given the choice of wind or rain I'd rather get wet every time.

Was up your way today - a 50 mile round trip up Rivington and back.
Bl00dy hard work with the wind, decided to go up Scout Road (Smithill's Dean) which I don't believe I have done for about 20 years. The views from the top are fantastic and you can clearly see the Hilton Tower in Manchester. Went up Sheep House Lane too.
Fast ride back, looked down when I arrived in Swinton to see it had only taken me 30 minutes from the Black Dog in Belmont. I doubt that could be done that quick in a car.
There was some kind of Sports Relief cycle event around Trafford. Why they had decided to run such an event that took into parts of the A56 gawd knows. I think everone I saw had hi-viz on

My motto for this winter was to stop being a fair weather cyclist and so after waking up to heavy showers I decided to head out anyway, as the wind didn't look too bad.........hmmmm.
It was a shorter ride than planned and I headed out to upton magna, passing the local sport relief mile event at the sports village and then paused to remove my waterproof, as the sun had come out and shower clouds were heading onto Telford. I was soaked inside my supposed breathable waterproof and so I still really don't know if they are worth bothering with.
I then headed onto Rodington and Longden on tern, where I had to pass the sad sight of the tayleur arms pub that went up in flames on Tuesday night and it is completely gutted. It was a really nice pub that did good food and beer and such a shame that this happened to it.
I also passed an Alfa Romeo with the bonnet rather bent, which must have come a cropa in the last couple of days by the bridge.
I then turned towards isombridge and then back in the direction of upton magna, and I passed a celebratory mark in isombridge of 1000 miles on my bike. It now needs a service from @Rickshaw Phil !!
The final 10 miles of the ride were awful. A very strong headwind that meant I was struggling to do 10mph downhill and in danger of being blown off at times!!
21.1 miles at 11.1 avg mph. (It had been 12.8 before I hit the wind!!)

You're a glutton for punishment 400! I only live about a mile and half from Smithills Dean Rd. In fact I used to run it a few years back when I was doing a few 10k's, and FYI it's bang on 1 mile from the bus turnround at the school up to the top
Sheephouse is a fairly regular one for me from where I live. TBH I'd rather do it from the Belmont side, it's still a fair climb upto the top, but then you can laugh at any cyclists you see going up Sheephouse and blowing out their @rse 
It's also part of the IMUK bike route is Sheephouse, although they've altered the route for this year so instead of 3 laps it's 'only' 2, but it now inlcudes Hunters Hill in Mawdsley as well 
strewth mate! I made some time today on the odd occasion the wind graced my derriere, but that's some going there

You know, for some reason mentally I always have to do sheep House from the Rivvy side. The other way is a piece of pish, albeit it's a hard slog up Belmont Rd from Bolton. Wouldn't have fancied that with the wind today.

My ride today was 102km through the lanes of Chester. I think I saw every season possible through the ride and, despite it being a circular route, there seemed to be a headwind for the vast majority of the ride. Still thoroughly enjoyable though

That's what I have when I do it that way. I come to the Asda junction on the A666, hang a right then slide left onto Belmont Road. Slog up Belmont Road then left at the BLACK DOG. Or I can go striaght up the A666 to Longworth Road at Egerton and come in through the old BLEACH WORKS, but that's more hills so doesn't happen often
