Yup, sorry Chris, this year only - after all we had Blazin' Squad last year who I think everyone will agree are 'special'

Waiting for the great leap forward
I'm living in hope that local hero Wagner will do the lights in Brierley Hill, if indeed they have such things, which i doubt.

Zoe Ward.

Who?

Instead this year, the honour of switching on Hull's light fell to 33-year-old cancer sufferer Zoe Ward.Devastatingly, the west Hull mum-of-six has been told by doctors she may not make it to Christmas and so the chance to be the star of the show and create a very real, abiding memory for the rest of her family was a lovely touch from the council organisers.

Someone for who its more than just a chance to make a few quid and remind the world how important a celebrity they are

Checked yours theclaude as you're too shy to say even though you probably organised it. Anyway in Swansea it was Santa! I ask you, what the hell has that got to do with Christmas?!!

What a total waste of money, in these times, or even less austere times.

Thankfully in Spain we don't get all that boll$$s at Christmas.................

just about every 6 weeks for their bloody religious ferias................

Nobody famous is turning on Lutterworth christmas lights...but they are being switched on tonight. I might go down to feel festive, but then again I might not!

The Krankies, last Sunday in Glasgow George Square

I was behind the Krankies in a queue at a services on the M6 a few years ago. The woman one was giving the poor serving girl hell about the lack of free magazine in the Daily Mail. I didn't realise them until afterwards, I just thought they were horrible people, too bad there weren't any ladders around....

The best (and only) light turning on I saw was in 2000 (I think) when we went to see the Chuckle Brothers turn on the lights in Mablethorpe.

Mark Murphy.

Nope, not the legendary American Jazz singer born in 1932, but this waster from radio local.

Basingstoke had Wendy Craig who we are also blessed with as the star of the local panto.

But hey it is a step up from last year's Anna Karen (Who played Olive in On the Buses 40 years ago)
