Hi everyone and firstly sorry for the spelling above not my strong point. I am going on a cruise in December which visits Bruges and I was wondering if it would be possible to hire a couple of bikes and cycle from the port at zeebruger? If so does anyone know roughly how far it is and the best route, off road preferably.

Many thanks for any help.

There's a canal running directly from Zeebrugge to Bruges with a cycle path beside it. I can't recall any
navigational difficulties, distance less than 20Km.

There are a couple in Zeebrugge, http://zeebrugge.net/en/cycling.php and Knokke Heist which is next to Zeebrugge, http://knokkeheist.com/en/cycling.php. Knokke, Zeebrugge and Blankenberg are connected by the coastal tram which runs from the border with the Netherlands to the border with France.

You will have more difficulty in finding your bike in a bike park than finding a shop to hire one to you.

The canal from Zeebrugge to Bruges is very scenic. Here are some pics of the canal from Bruge to Damme:

Going along the twin canals and turning right on the canal through Damme is a better route than the direct canal.
Head south on the N300 and turn first right after the mobile home park, to join the canals south of the railway on the east side.
