I have a tall hedge to maintain and so I went for a Stihl with hedge cutter, pole cutter and extension attachments. You can also get a strimmer attachment and I can highly recommended it as an excellent bit of kit.

Helmet thread.

My dad has the same Stil kit, but no head gear - I've used it too. Oh pants, no helmet... whoops... and no gloves.

I do not let my wife near the chain saw. One, she'd forget about the oil (chains are important !!!!), and two, she has cut through the cable on the hedge trimmers a fair bit. She doesn't realise about the kickback on cutters and they are hard (physically) to use - better off me getting chopped up ! ^_^ (my life insurance is much better)

Come on, will take ages, and not as much fun as a machine !!!! Argh.....
Not as long as you think, and its a permanent solution.

I used a pin of a buckrack to pull them out of the ground and the fork to roll them. 100 yards cleared in just over an hour. Clear to this day, five years since it was done.
