A punny story

I was walking down the road when I saw an advert for the Northern Pun competition. Now, being quite good at such things I immediately entered. When I saw the prize, I decided that I HAD to win, so I created 10 new puns, wonderful, witty, clever examples of the genre.

The competition was intense, and I tried my hardest, but the sad tale ends with my complete failure to win; the first was didn't win, neither did the second, in fact no pun in ten did !
