Beware:

There are Space Grips that have a solid bolt through thr tube into the extension - these are brilliant

This looks like the "Swing Grip" In this case the tube fis to a small tab that is already bent through 90 degrees. This tab is made of cheese that will break off fairly quickly and dump ypu lights under the folowing car's wheels

I've actually got both types on different bikes (the spacegrip is on the front of the trike nowadays) I went for the angled swing grip on the TT bike as trying the 'spacegrip it just stuck up in the air too much. I've not had any problems with either yet but agree that the band is their weakest point. however both only support the light units (Electron) with the battery pack being mounted to the frame.

Further to my original post, it was just a thought as for instance, Cycling UK say:
"If you are involved in a night-time accident however, any slight illegality with respect to your lights or reflectors may be regarded as contributory negligence."
