My Mum has arthritis and has trouble walking. Her hips have been giving her pain for a number of years now and she went to see a specialist on Friday. He told her her hips are fine and it's actually her spine. The bottom 2 disks of her vertebrae have basically disintegrated and the pain is coming round the sides causing the pain in her hip area. He is against surgery on her spine but mentioned physiotherapy is the best treatment.

Will this help her? She's in her late 60's so she has a good few years left in her yet but I can't help think it would have been "better" news if she had indeed needed a hip replacement as it would have seemed more of a solution as such!

It will help, certainly - try and get it on the NHS - might be a wait.... private is expensive - £40 or more a session !
