Carpel Tunnel surgery. I was getting pins and needles in my fingers and the whole hand going numb after about 10 minutes on the bike.

I'm glad you have it fixed.
Keyboard users are prone to that aren't they ? How long off the bike after the op ?

About 6 weeks before I could grip the handlebar sufficiently to be confident out on the roads.

Trust me. The celery adds to the flavour. Two avid celery aversionists have eaten my corned beef pie and were incredulous when they discovered that they'd eaten their most hated food item and, what's more, enjoyed the experience.

I can vouch for that. Raw celery is one of the very few foods that I dislike, but I use it an a variety of my fave recipes as a flavour-adder.
