The computer-generated voice on the satnav of my phone once pronounced Loughborough three different ways on the same journey.

These place names remind me of getting lost in the backroads of Norfolk and asking a passer-by if they knew the way to 'Happys-burg' (Happisburgh). They looked baffled for a bit, then said cheerfully "Oh - you mean Haresbrer."

'Dalzeil', or 'Dee'ell, as in Dee'ell and Pascoe.


Seemingly the 'z' is a.... One of those, I can't remeber the name off hand... A Glottal stop?
