Loughborough, which can be pronounced low-brow if you follow certain rules.

Hyperbole was one that got me the first time I saw it written down. I thought surely its pronounced hyper bowl. But no it hi-per-bow-lee.
Im just back from holidays in Northumberland where @Fnaar warned me how the locals pronounced Bellingham. They say Bellinjum and in the pub locals had a right laugh at non locals calling it Bellingham.
How on earth is St John pronounced SinJin?

It's MilNgavie, pronounced Mull-guy, or Mill-guy if yer posh!
Then there's Kirkcudbright. Pronounced
Kir-coo-bray
.

On an early date with SophRM we went to the National Museum in Edinburgh, and there was a display about Kirkcudbrightshire.

As she is a sassenach I challenged her to pronounce it, gleefully awaiting the inevitable mangled pronunciation.

I was gutted when she nailed it.

Don't worry, people in Newcastle don't know what a bath is.

Course they do. It's where they keep the coal

Hopefully not done already, but here's a mis-spelling of a common word

"ghoti"

....and the correct spelling is....

"fish"

"gh" from "tough"
"o" from "women"
"ti" from "station"
