So is there one this Sunday ;)
Where are you going, then ? Decide on a cafe to reach, a time to be there, post it on the Forum .... and you have created a Forum RV Ride.

Simples !

You could even be the initiator of the west coast ride

[go ON - you know you can do it ]

what soprt of times are people thinking about rides? i know it gets dark around 4:30 - 5pm now so would a ride be a very early sort of time? like 8 - 9am? or more 12pm ish? depends how far away it is for me but if a date is arranged i will try get some time off work, during the week is best time for me to go cycling, tuesday and wednesday afternoon (went for a 40 mile ride today) as i dont need time off but can see what i can do.

Last Saturday, for the RV ride, I set off at my usual time for my commute at 07:00, arriving at the RV Cafe by 10:00 and getting home around 16:00. Having lights helped.

I wouldn't be able to make a midweek RV, my work pattern is too traditional.

I'm currently looking at one based at Kilmacolm. Lots of ways to get there. I still need to er, research a cafe. What sort of distances do people want to ride?

Stabmabrush as we called it in the days of my youth.....

The essence of an RV ride is that you state a date/time/place to meet and everyone choses their own way to get there. You are not chosing a route, just a meeting place.

Somewhere reasonably accessible is preferable to a cafe at the end of a long road ....

I've heard that there is the Milk Bar in Powmill than my LBS use as a stop on one of their Sunday ride routes. Will be up that way in the next few weeks to check it out but as the LBS regularly use it, would suggest it is bike friendly.

Does this sound like a good RV location or a bit out of the way?

Didn't I see you having a mince pie before Christmas?

Anyway back to the topic, I agree this format is good.

You are quite correct. I did not get on the bike, so regarded my RV was a bit of a cheat. :becool:

I am not too sure about that one, unless it has changes hands...

 well DEFINITELY NOT one for us then, will ask the LBS about it to see what they know. I only thought about it as it's a change from Heaven Scent in Milnathort (which is fab) and I had planned on doing some routes over the hills into Dunning and thought it may be a good place for a wee rest before Cleish hill on the way home.

Powmill is a nice 70 miler for me so I'm game, but not too keen on somewhere that may cause my run home to be twice as fast as the run out, if you get my drift.

Wrestling off bib longs with a single bead of sweat running down my face on top of a hill in the middle of nowhere on a cold damp day, with a brisk Nor’ Easterly swirling about, does not make for a great day out.

CTC Fife use the following places of refreshment

Heaven Scent Café, Milnathort.
Harbourmaster Café, Dysart Harbour.
Q'zine, Wellwood, by Dunfermline.
Lochend Farm Shop & Café, Nr Portmoak (use this venue myself 5*)
and
Powmill milk Bar

It's a bit tough on the Powmill Milky Bar - 14 months ago, they got a dreadful  report - and now seem to be forever crossed off everyone's lists !

Seamab is also not too far from there (so he can get home really quickly ), so maybe we could ask him, kfinlay and anyone else, to check it out and give us a report.

It'd be a good ride from Embra too. :becool: (does anyone else think this emoticon cyclist should be going left to right - or is it just me  ?)

Its a bit too near me for a cafe stop. I've not been in for ages but it's not that bad (nor that good!). It was fairly cheap and fast to get served. The quality of food/coffee at Heaven's Scent is of a much higher standard. On the plus side there's plenty of room for bikes outside.

I think Scoosh's cyclist is Japanese.

Hey Seamab, anywhere good in Dollar? I know it's right on your doorstep but you could still get on the the bike if you want to come out, meet up and then escort others in!?! eg meet the edinburgers at the bridge then cycle back to Dollar.

I would come from the north probably as looking to do the hills into/out of Dunning but always happy to have a buddy join me :becool:

I've never been in there! I think Jane said that the Dunfermline CC stop in a cafe on Sat morning - it might well be that one?
The only local cafe i have knowledge of is the one in Muckhart called "Mona's", which is very good. Also the pub "Inn at Muckhart" is good for food. Both have parking areas with plenty of space for bikes.
