It's a reasonable off road light, but there are many better for commuting, even on unlit roads - the Ixon IQ Premium works well on my 12 mile unlit trip

I may have misinterpreted the legislation, but does it say that after dusk the bicycle has to be fitted with lights. I have always took that to mean that any helmet or rucksack mounted lights have to be used in conjunction with bike mounted lights and can't be used alone
