On the Day one, would the chain set be easy enough to swop around if I wanted to gear it down to make it more suitable for cyclocross.. Would I have to replace the who crank etc and would it be expensive.

It is 'geared down' for cyclocross. It's a single speed quite low geared CX bike. A specialist piece of kit for the terminally masochistic and strong of leg and lungs.
